Day 11: The Heart Transformation
Breaking Bread — 31-Day Devotional Journey
Scripture Reference: Ezekiel 36:26
Pastor Hovhannes Kekishian shares from Ezekiel 36:26 on God’s promise to replace hardened hearts with renewed, living hearts.
God declares in Ezekiel 36:26 a promise that reaches beyond behavior and into transformation of the heart. He does not merely adjust conduct; He replaces what has become hardened. The Scripture states that God gives a new heart and puts a new spirit within, removing the heart of stone and giving a heart of flesh. This work is often accomplished through a process rather than a single moment.
Life’s disappointments, betrayals, and unmet expectations can cause the heart to grow guarded and resistant. God addresses this condition directly, not with condemnation, but with restoration. Ezekiel 36:26 reveals that God Himself performs the exchange, taking what is unresponsive and replacing it with what is alive and receptive. The process requires humility, submission, and endurance, but it leads to lasting change. A softened heart becomes capable of hearing God clearly, trusting Him deeply, and responding obediently.
Transformation gained through process is protected by understanding, valued through experience, and sustained through relationship. God proves faithful to complete what He promises, and once the heart is renewed, it is never meant to return to its former state.
KEY INSIGHT
“It’s the process that makes us stronger—better and not bitter.”
REFLECTION
Where has disappointment caused emotional hardness, and how can trust be exercised by submitting that area to God today?
